Chicken Wings - Longxiang, Te Aro

Longxiang is easily one of my favourite restaurants. It's unpretentious, the food is good to great and the service is awesome.  I usually come here with family and leave the ordering to others. Our favourite dishes are probably the Dim Sum, Orange Beef & King Prawn Egg Foo Young. But because I haven't done much ordering I'm not sure I've ever had the chicken wings here before.

Like other Chinese restaurants & takeaways I've frequented the wings here are simple. I think it's just a light dusting of seasoned flour & then into hot oil to deep fry.  This method, when done well, gives a super crunchy outside & moist tender chicken inside. Like all the other food here, the quality of the cooking was great, so the wings came out exactly as i've just described and we're delicious!

My only complaint is that I would have preferred the full wing, the biggest joint was missing so you only get the tip and forearm part. I reckon if you were going to deep fry my arms you'd want the bicep too. Not that they are 24" pythons or anything, but they are the meatiest part!

I'm a big fan of this very simple style of cooking wings. However, though they are pretty good, Longxiang's wings come second to my favourite place for this style.
