Takoyaki - Ozeki, Te Aro

Before I get onto talking about the Phở I had in the weekend, I thought I might update you on my quest for Takoyaki.  Below is what you get when you order Takoyaki at Ozeki, 4 balls, for around $6 or so I think. I was sure the menu mentioned bonito flakes as a topping, but instead it was thinly sliced nori instead.

Other than that change, they came with the usual sauces, and were served on a bed over very finely shredded cabbage.  The slightly weird thing was that they came skewered, but if meat on a stick is always good - then why not Octopus?

But here's where these Takoyaki began to dissapoint me, yes the outside was perfectly crispy crunchy, and indeed the inside was gooey oozey batter-y goodness.  Only, the Octopus quotient was lacking, with only one or two fairly small pieces hidden within.

So, for me, Kazu Yakitori & Sake Bar still wins when it comes to best Takoyaki in Wellington.  Ozeki is somewhere south of 2nd.
